LUOGHI DI VALORE


Una selezione di immagini dalla ricerca "collettiva" condotta da Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche e iniziata nel 2007, che si interroga sul concetto di "luogo" chiedendo ai cittadini di segnalare e motivare i propri luoghi di valore. Ad oggi sono circa 700 le segnalazioni che coprono quasi tutta la provincia di Treviso.

"Su che cosa fosse un luogo qualcosa si era forse intuito e detto negli anni scorsi: natura, memoria, tensione sociale, condizione umana, invenzione, cura (o degrado), tutte queste cose impastate insieme in una forma e una vita riconoscibili che si svolgono in un ambito territoriale identificabile. Ma il valore di un luogo di che cosa è fatto? …. Intravvediamo intanto che si tratta di qualcosa di universale. Ogni luogo, non importa quale, esprime verso qualcuno la sua energia gravitazionale. C'è una persona, un piccolo gruppo, una comunità che lo riconosce come "proprio", che lo sente appunto come costitutivo di sé… questa energia viene in particolare dalla memoria, dalla conoscenza accumulata nel tempo dalle generazioni precedenti e trasmessa ai testimoni d'oggi. Memoria e conoscenza possono apparire anche come suggestioni, emozioni, affetti, ma sono e restano essenzialmente memoria e conoscenza, e perciò vicinanza, internità, confidenza con la forma e la vita del luogo, con tutto quanto c'è e con tutto quanto c'è stato nel corso del tempo, quello lunghissimo della geologia, quello lungo degli strati delle trasformazioni storiche, quello breve delle tensioni attuali…."

OUTSTANDING PLACES


A selection of images from a collective research, started in 2007 and leaded by Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche, in which people agree to get involved in open discussion with specialists and experts in order to name and describe their outstanding places. In the first five years about 700 places have been nominated from allover the Province of Treviso.

"If a place is experienced and described as a sort of blend of nature, memory, social tension, human condition, invention, care (or neglect and decay), all elements that together give rise to a recognizable form and life in an identifiable territorial framework, what is it that constitutes the value of that place? One can sense that it is something universal that every place, no matter which, expresses its gravitational energy towards someone; there is always an individual, a small group, a community that recognizes the place as somehow its own, that feels it to be a constituent part of its being. And it seems to be that this energy comes especially from the memory, from knowledge accumulated over time by previous generations and passed on to today's witnesses. Memory and knowledge can also take the form of suggestions, emotions, affection, but essentially they are and remain memory and knowledge, and therefore closeness and familiarity with the form and life of the place, with everything that is and everything that is known or sensed to have been in the course of time, the age-old time of geology, the long perspective of historical transformation and the fleeting viewpoint of current tensions…."
